The Host of ICASA Represented in Vienna during AIDS 2010

Addis Ababa, 18 July 2010 – The host for the International Conference on AIDS in Africa (ICASA) 2011 has been represented during the International AIDS Conference that was held from 18-23 July 2010 in Vienna, Austria.

ICASA was one of the exhibitors during this conference as part of the promotional effort to attract international actors working in the field of HIV/AIDS, STIs, TB and Malaria.   Members of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of ICASA were also part of the delegates that participated in the AIDS conference to share experiences and best practices in organizing and hosting an international conference.

Upon their return, the LOC has reconvened to discuss how the lessons learned will be adopted to the context of ICASA 2011.

Such visit is initiated to seize the ICASA 2011 promotion and communication and experience sharing opportunities in major events both locally and internationally. Other similar visits include participation in the 5th International Conference on HIV Pathogenesis in July 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa and experience sharing visit to organizers of 15th ICASA in Dakar, Senegal in April 2010.

It is to be recalled that Ethiopia was selected to host the 16th ICASA which will be held from 4-8 December 2011.   The conference is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees from over 100 countries.
